iMac with an M1 chip

Apple today unveiled an all-new iMac with the M1 chip, which allows for a much more lightweight and surprisingly thin design. The latest iMac delivers powerful output in an 11.5-millimeter-thin design with a striking side profile that almost disappears. iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and over a billion colors, providing a dazzling and vivid viewing experience. It is available in a variety of vibrant colors to fit a user's personal style and brighten any room.

A 1080p FaceTime HD monitor, studio-quality mics, and a six-speaker sound system are also included in the new iMac, making it the best camera and audio system ever in a Mac. Touch ID is also making its debut on the iMac, making it easier than ever to safely log in, make Apple Pay transactions, and switch user profiles with the touch of a finger. Apps launch at lightning speed, daily tasks feel extremely smooth and fluid and demanding workloads like editing 4K video and working with large images are faster than ever before thanks to the strength and efficiency of M1 and macOS Big Sur.

The latest iMac joins Apple's impressive family of M1-powered Mac models, which includes the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, as another step forward in the company's transition to Apple silicon. Customers can order iMac starting Friday, April 30. It's the most intimate, strong, capable, and fun it's ever been. In the second half of May, the iMac will be available.

“The all-new iMac is the first Mac built around the groundbreaking M1 chip,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The new iMac brings everything people love about iMac to an entirely new level, with its striking design in seven beautiful colors, its immersive 4.5K Retina monitor, the best camera, mics, and speakers ever in a Mac, and Touch ID, combined with the outstanding performance of M1 and the power of macOS Big Sur.”

The latest iMac completely reimagines one of the world's most popular computers, with a smaller and more compact design that is stunning from every angle. The logic board and thermals are significantly consolidated and reduced in size compared to the previous generation's, allowing the iMac's side profile to virtually vanish, thanks to the system-on-chip architecture and impressive power efficiency of M1. The iMac's volume is reduced by half,1 allowing it to take up less room and fit into even more spaces.
